Grand Forks Career Impact Academy

The design of the new Career Impact Academy supports the vision for a greater Grand Forks Area Career and Technical Center by creating a space for specialized skill development.  The building diagram follows a simple linear organization anchored by large two-story labs spaces and the centered on the Career Impact Academy hub.  This centralized space welcomes students, community, and business partners into the center of the building and provides space to highlight each of the various programs offered in the new facility.  At the core of the facility and directly off the Hub space is the Community Commons, a flexible and active learning space that serves as an extension of all CTE programs and community use.

BNDRY Studio Roles:

Scott Krenner - CTE Planning, Programming and Design

Tyler Whitehead - CTE Planning, Programming and Design

The “Hub” is a creative environment that provides space to support soft skill development such as presentation, small and medium group collaboration, cross disciplinary projects, and places where student work and achievement can be featured.   The space types and relationships were heavily influenced by student and industry partner voices.  The desire was to create more open and connected learning environments that expose a variety of program types.
