Grand Forks Career Impact Academy

Grand Forks, North Dakota

The Challenge

Grand Forks Schools partnered with local industries to develop a CTE program, requiring $10 million in community donations to qualify for an additional $10 million state funding match.

The Solution

Emphasizing a “meet them where they are” approach, BNDRY led several types of stakeholder engagement activities, including small individual programming meetings, industry site visits, webinars, student workshops and large format community presentations. To hear as many community voices as possible, BNDRY led an all-day design workshop, where community members could come and go as their schedule allowed, finding out about the project, and discussing ideas of the facility and the future of their respective fields.

The Benefits

BNDRY’s targeted engagement resulted in community-wide enthusiasm, generous financial support, and insightful feedback from industry that informed the overall design.

The “Hub” is a creative environment that provides space to support soft skill development such as presentation, small and medium group collaboration, cross disciplinary projects, and places where student work and achievement can be featured. The space types and relationships were heavily influenced by student and industry partner voices. The desire was to create more open and connected learning environments that expose a variety of program types.
