Experts in Educational Design and CTE

Together, we can raise the bar for educational design.

BNDRY partners with education-focused firms to conceptualize spaces that exceed client expectations and encourage instructors to question conventional boundaries in education. Our expertise allows us to effectively lead and advance CTE-related design discussions, moving beyond basic generalities and superficial solutions to produce results that benefit clients in numerous and often unexpected ways.

Our approach—rooted in listening, curiosity, and client engagement—allows us to clearly identify and address the specific challenges and complexities associated with each project. Our work encourages vital experimentation in education, expands opportunities for individual skill-building, and promotes workforce development.

  • Scott Krenner, AIA

Scott listens carefully to what clients say and how they say it. His follow-up questions convey a curiosity that leads to unique insights and ideas.

Since 2010, Scott has focused specifically on educational projects, design management, educational planning, programming, and community engagement.

Over the course of his career, he has collaborated with clients and architectural partners on more than 30 educational projects, and in 2014, he led the design of Pathways Innovation Center, a milestone project constructed in Wyoming and widely recognized as a national model for CTE.

Several of his designs have garnered the recognition of his peers, including a 2022 Minnesota AIA Honor Award for his work on Sartell High School.

  • Tyler Whitehead, AIA

Drawing on his experience in construction, woodworking, and metal fabrication, Tyler connects easily with CTE students and instructors.

A specialist in the design of CTE spaces, Tyler has led architectural projects around the country, redefining the design and functionality of complex technical programs.

He has the unique ability to view designs through a high-level lens, while simultaneously understanding the technical and best practices for safe equipment operation and layout.

Tyler approaches each BNDRY project as a once-in-a-generation opportunity to reimagine student and staff goals and to turn their vision into flexible and future-ready educational spaces. He has the unique ability to translate activities, curriculums, and learning goals into client-specific spaces, while designing solutions that not only transform CTE, but support the broader educational vision.

WORKING WITH BNDRY

How do we divide the work?

We typically work with others as either partners or sub consultants. As partners, we are involved in projects from beginning to end, sharing risks, responsibilities, and leadership duties. As sub consultants, we address specific needs within a limited scope.

How do you set your fee?

Our fee is a percentage of the architectural fee, based on an agreed-upon division of labor. The services provided by BNDRY assume some of the roles and responsibilities of the Architect of Record.

What do contracts look like?

After agreeing to a proposed scope of services, we recommend drafting an AIA C401, a standard form of agreement between architect and consultant.

How do you define roles and responsibilities of documentation?

As you would with an internal design team, we recommend a planning meeting to assign expertise with documentation responsibilities.

How does BNDRY collaborate with design?

Because of our experience with a variety of educational projects, we have experience both leading design teams and being a member of the design team.
